I'm happy to be able to offer a variety of stones in beautiful shades of red, rust, mauve, and pink. This page is an homage to the iron and other chemicals that yield such stunning gemstones! All one-of-a-kind. Click to jump to the stone of your choice, or scroll down. Bloodstone (Heliotrope) Fancy Jasper Noreena Jasper Lightning Jasper Kona Dolomite Poppy Jaspers Cinnabar Mookaite "Hidden Worlds" Poppy Jasper These highly unusual Poppy Jaspers come from Pala, California, where most of the other Poppy Jaspers (further down on this page) originate, but the resemblance ends there. When you look at them, you want to put on a pair of glasses to look at them more closely, and then you'll want to add a pair of magnifiers to see them even better, because the detail is amazing. The rough is so rare, it didn't have a name, so I'm calling them "Hidden Worlds" because to me they look, at first glance, like something you'd find under a microscope. At second glance, they could be galaxies or star clusters, or oil droplets in water--the sky's the limit for what these remarkable stones could represent. What do you see? Cut by Keith Horst, they are polished on both sides and range from 2.3 to 3.7 mm in thickness. These are all that I have, and I'm guessing that the future supply will be very limited. Be sure to click on these to marvel at the detail. "Hidden Worlds" Poppy Jasper

Bloodstone (Heliotrope) Traditionally considered the birthstone for March, Bloodstone has its own religious symbolism--The specks and splashes of deep red found in the stone were said to have originated in the blood of Christ dripping from the cross to the ground below. A more prosaic explanation is that this deep green and teal jasper got its red colors from iron oxides. Either way you look at it, these pieces are some of the prettiest examples of this stone that I've seen. Important note: The colors in these are very rich and deep. Unless otherwise noted, these pieces have satin-finish backs. R286 $46.00

Noreena Jasper Sorry, Sold out for now! Noreena Jasper, from Australia, can be quite pedestrian in its design. However, if you're lucky like I was, you might be able to find some of the truly lovely pieces that are reminiscent of fantasy art--soft reds, yellow ochres, and blue-greys form the lyrical imagery found in these pieces.
Lightning Jasper Sorry, Sold out temporarily! From the African continent comes this "striking" red jasper, slashed through with soft yellow cream and translucent agate. The design on these stones continues through to the back, which is also polished. Click on photos to see the details of these fabulous pieces. Lightning Jasper Africa R78 $60.00 Sorry, Sold!

I have a mix of different Poppy Jaspers here. Some come from California, others from Mexico, and some, the dealers weren't sure where they came from. I am making an educated guess that the ones with white spots are Guadalupe Poppy Jasper, from California. The ones with bright red lines running through them might be Morgan Hill Poppy Jasper, also from California. Some might originate in Mexico. All of them are lovely. Click on photos to see details. My lapidarist friend John Mediz mined and cut these little beauties himself. For lovers of bright red! Note: Some of these stones might appear on your screen to be darker or yellower than others, but actually, they're all pretty much the same color--creamy white with bright red. All of these have unpolished backs. Click on photos to see details. Cinnabar
