Mineral Specimens, page two

Malachite with Chrysacolla

The above photos are all of one specimen. Hover over photo to see caption; click on photo to enlarge.

Malachite: Copper carbonate hydroxide      Chrysacolla: Hydrated copper silicate
In this piece, the smooth malachite that most people are familiar with is nowhere to be seen. Instead, it takes the much rarer form of sparkling intense green crystals, interspersed with aqua nodules of chrysacolla. As you can see from the pictures, just about every face of this stone carries some malachite crystals, including in a little "cave" on the side face. In certain areas of this specimen, the malachite and chrysacolla are interlayered and folded, giving yet another expression of these two minerals within one piece!

I purchased this piece from a dealer from the Netherlands during the closing minutes of the Gem and Mineral show at the Tucson Convention Center. As a result, I did not get the provenance of the stone, but it's most likely from the Tsumeb in Namibia because the dealer carried other specimens from this area. Dimensions: Approximately 3- 5/8" long , about 2" wide, and 1- 1/4" thick. It weighs .2 of a lb. This is a superb specimen. GM1200    $78.00

Mystical Qualities of Malachite/Chrysacolla: This malachite/chrysacolla combination is considered ideal for helping with loving communication: Both minerals are attuned to the heart and throat chakras, and aid in providing emotional focus and clarity, easing heartache, and increasing the capacity to love. In addition, the crystalline form of the malachite has a powerful effect on increasing one's spiritual and psychic abilities.

Lepidolite with Pink Tourmaline

The above photos are of one specimen. Hover cursor over photo to see caption; click on photo to enlarge.

This marvelous mineral is called lepidolite, a type of mica. The lepidolite in this specimen is a lovely lavender that sparkles all over. It is shot through with star bursts of the semi-precious stone, pink tourmaline. The stone is 5-1/4" long and 3-1/4" high, ideal for display.    GM1100  $48.00

Metaphysical qualities of Lepidolite with Tourmaline:  New Age experts claim that lepidolite radiates uplifting energies and is ideal for a business environment because it helps to reduce stress as well as promote open communication and progress towards goals. In a personal setting, lepidolite is said to generate a calm, hopeful attitude and aid in weathering life's changes. The pink tourmaline (rubellite) may aid in creativity, and in focusing the forces of the heart and the mind.
