New!Selenite

Selenite is a variety of gypsum. The crystals can range from ochre-colored, through translucent milky white, to the very rarest--clear. The crystals in these specimens are gemstone clear. All these specimens are from Zaragosa, Spain, and the mine where it was found has closed. I have a very limited number of these and every one is spectacular. Once I sell out of them, they will be gone forever.

Mystical Qualities of Selenite:  Selenite is said to promote clarity of mind and judgement, and can be used to help increase one's flexibility, both in thinking and in physical movement. At the same time, it is also used to increase one's confidence in one's own decisions. Regardless of what the mystics say, you can't help but be inspired when you gaze upon these selenite specimens.

Selenite "Bold Beauty"

The tabular crystals in this specimen are striking, with 90% of the terminations intact.  It measures 2-1/4" high, 2-1/4" wide, and 2" deep.  About one dozen crystals burst from the top of a sparkling snow white matrix which is encrusted with crystalline druzy-like material and tiny crystal points. The largest crystals average 3/4" in length, and are clear enough to easily read text through. This is a small but beautiful specimen. 62.5 g  To enlarge photo, click on it      GM1500   $85.00

Selenite "Crystal Cave"

Please click on photos to see details.

This piece is a miniature cave that's open at both ends. So it's actually a funnel-shaped tunnel filled with about ten crystals ranging in size from 1/4 to 1-1/4", with perfect terminations. Lining the entire tunnel is a sparkling carpet of white druzy-like crystals (see center photo, above, and closeup to its left), and on the back of the specimen is a bonus -- an inch-long cleft filled with medium, almost discoid crystals (see photo, above right). Those who like the idea of treasures being hidden within will enjoy this piece. 3" x 3" x 2.25" tall    201.5 g

GM 1501 $100.00

Selenite "Cresting Wave"

Please click on photos to see details.

This magnificent specimen looks like a cresting wave, frozen forever in stone. It has clear, perfectly terminated 1/4 to 3/8" crystals caught in its trough. Tiny druzy crystals line the inside surface and dot the crest like seafoam. What is most unusual is a nearly 1 in. wide crystal, like a sheet of water, under the curl of the wave. This is an exquisite piece -- the pictures just don't capture its beauty. 2.75" x 2.5" x 2" tall      215.4 g

GM 1502 $150.00

Selenite "Crystal Avalanche"

Please click on photos to see details.

This gorgeous piece looks like a snowy mountainside in the sunlight, with sprays of crystals cascading down its slopes. The largest crystals average about half an inch in length, down to tiny miniatures, all diamond-clear. A spectacular specimen. 3.13" wide x 2.25" deep x 2.5" tall   175.6 g

GM 1503 $198.00

Next, beautiful Ocean Jasper.   Or, return to the list on the opening Mineral Specimens page.
