Original Design "Swing Earrings" by Judith Kiriazis The design of these earrings arose out of my fascination with the way that glass can bend light. Each earring starts out with a sterling silver hoop, from which I hang two pieces of glass--one clear textured piece and one dichroic piece. The pieces are heated separately in the kiln to round their edges and to add accessory glass. They are then drilled and strung on the hoop. As the wearer moves, the clear textured glass swings back and forth across the dichroic glass, catching the light and producing an infinite variety of patterns. These are colorful, stunning kinetic mini-sculptures that are lightweight, fun to wear, and are guaranteed to attract attention. As long as they are not dropped on a tile sink or floor, they are surprisingly strong and indestructible. (Click on the photos below to enlarge them so that you can see detail.)

Original Design "MoodSwings"© Earrings The design of these earrings evolved from my original swing earrings, but MoodSwings have more components: two reversible glass pieces, a shining strip of forged or textured 14kt gold or sterling silver, and beads. Many of the glass pieces have real 23kt gold leaf permanently fused right onto the surface of the glass. All the components can be slid off the hoops, turned over, rearranged, and threaded back on. So each pair offers a variety of shapes, colors, and materials that can be recombined dozens of ways to suit the mood and the outfit of the wearer. The photos below show two of the many possible combinations that each pair of earrings offers. It’s the equivalent of a dozen pair of earrings in one, the ultimate in versatility.
