White Plume Agate Doublets

White Plume Agate Doublets

If you saw a slab of white plume agate at a rock shop, you'd probably pass it by--It looks like a mottled whitish mass. But in the hands of master gem cutter Keith Horst, a miracle is wrought: By cutting super-thin slices of the stone, Keith uncovers its transparency and astounding depth of imagery. Then he permanently attaches each slice to black agate and the images burst forth in vivid relief. The slicing, cutting, shaping, and polishing are highly labor-intensive, ensuring that Keith won't be doing a whole lot of these, so if you choose one of these, you'll be getting a rare and unusual stone.
