Owyhee Jasper comes from the Owyhee Canyon in eastern Oregon. It is becoming increasingly rare, because the specific area where it has been traditionally mined has been turned into a park and mechanized removal equipment is no longer permitted. Owyhee is amazingly variable: This page features Owyhee Landscape Jasper. Its imagery is a stunning version of traditional picture jaspers showing mountain and desert scenery in the stone. You'll notice two color morphs--the Owyhee with the very rare blue coloring, and the golden variety, which cutter Merlin DeShaw calls Owyhee Sunset Jasper.
