I think that this is one of the most exciting fossils: Just imagine touching, holding, and being able to wear an actual piece of what was once a living dinosaur, something that no one on earth has seen. Yes, these are parts of the actual bone from dinosaurs, completely mineralized. The differing colors are due to varying mineral content of the soils in which the bones were found. The darker lines show the actual internal "spongey" structure of the bone itself.
