Tahitian Snow Agate

Tahitian Snow Agate

Lapidarist Donald Olson named this stone which he found on a trip to the Far East. It is related to Ocean Jasper, but unlike the usual ocean jasper, it has an agate's silicated glassiness, with ocean colors and flecks of white that can be perceived both on the surface and in its depths, because it is partially translucent!  In some lights it is a mossy bluish green; in others, it is primarily teal. It really does conjure up the magic of snow falling over a warm ocean! All have satin-finish backs.
